Directional drilling is among Canary Construction INC's total package of drilling and trenchless technology, making projects that were once considered impossible to now be practical and affordable. Canary Construction, INC offers comprehensive directional drilling services using the latest advancements in equipment and training.

This technology has far-reaching applications related to crossing water, injection and extraction wells and inner city drilling that minimizes the environmental impact while reducing costs. Canary Construction Inc's Horizontal drilling specialists have the know-how and experience to get the job done, leveraging this technique’s major advantages: the speed of installation coupled with the ability to drill long distances very accurately.

The basis of operation of the boring system is the use of a directional boring head with a percussion system. The unit operates using compressed air to drive both thrust and pullback actions as well as rotation and percussion at the drill head. Spoil is removed by the compressed air flow through the bore hole. Tracking is achieved using
similar techniques to systems using liquid drilling fluids but the electronic sonde in the head has to be fitted with a shock absorber to dampen the effects of the percussion system. The system can be used to drill all soil types and that further advantages include no requirement for a mud mixing plant, no bentonite requirement and therefore no fluid losses to the ground, a very small operational footprint is required for each set up, and yet a high performance during installation. the basis of operation of the boring system is the use of a directional boring head with a percussion system.

[Vibratory Plow, Plough, Ploughing] Vibratory Plough: Ploughing units utilize a large vibratory plow that can pull and feed cable and/or conduit into the earth at depths of 24" to 48". The size and power of these machines makes it ideal for long runs of direct bury, where it can easily plow through soil, sand, clay and rocky conditions. This method of burial is best utilized in more rural areas such as along roads and open fields where underground utilities are not problematic.

[Trenching] Trenching: Trenching units vary in size and utilize a boom on the back that has cutting blades designed for specific soil or rock conditions. The trench travels along churning up the earth and creating a trench. Depending on what is being buried the trencher will create a open slit in the earth about 6"-12" inches in width and a depth ranging from 24" to 60" depth. The crew will then "place" the cable or pipe and back filled the trench. This method of burial is best utilized in more rural areas such as along roads, through fields, and in new construction zones.

[Concrete Coring] Concrete Coring: We-Bore-It is often asked to go beyond underground construction and to actually breach a foundation, wall or ceiling of a structure by performing both vertical and horizontal coring. Typically the diameter of the bore ranges any where from 2" to 10" diameter cores. Larger concrete coring, sleeving, and cutting projects are available for quote.

[Micro Tunneling] Micro Tunneling: This advanced technology allows for the installation and placement of large metal or concrete casings to be placed as the tunnel unit is boring. The boring head pulverizes the materials and breaks it down into a slurry, where it is is pumped back to the control station and filtered out. This trenchless technology allows for incredibly long runs of steerable boring, with minimal impact or interruption to the areas surrounding the staging and operations areas. We-Bore-It tunneling diameters range from 12'' to 48'' inches in diameter.

Directional Boring: Often referred to as "trenchless technology" utilizes special machines that install underground conduit with virtually no impact to the surface area, disruption to traffic flow, landscaping or structures. Conduit size typically ranges from 1" poly or PVC to 12". Larger diameter boring, rock boring or sleeving projects require larger equipment and are more involved to complete. Directional Boring offers the best option for high traffic or sensitive areas without causing disruption to traffic flow, landscaping or structures. Once the crews clean up it will look like they were never there. Best utilized in residential and commercial zones.

[Vacuum Excavation] Hydro Vacuum Excavation: Is a technology that uses water or air pressure to break up soil and debris so that it can be safely extracted by vacuum. This technology significantly reduces the risk of damage or injury while exposing buried utilities. Vacuum excavation is efficient and works very well in urban environments (by) mitigating risk of injury, damage and costly restoration.

[Underground Utility Locating] Private Utility Locating: Is a service for the locating of private utilities and other hidden assets that are not directly associated, installed, or controlled by electric, water, phone, or gas utility companies. We-Bore-It will provide a private locating professional to survey and map out your job site or property.

HORIZONTAL DRY BORE

There are numerous options when it comes to underground construction and getting something (i.e. a cable, pipe, conduit, etc) from Point A to Point B and sometimes there are multiple obstacles and conditions in between that must be negotiated. Most often directional drilling(boring) and/or trenching is the preferred method, but should the job require more specialized equipment and crews, Canary Construction, INC. has the resources to get the job done for you. Your assigned project coordinator will recommend which method may be best for your project, but the final decision of course rests with you the customer.
